The red wine industry of the Xi'an International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Park is taking shape, as about 200 merchants from home and abroad gathered at the Xi'an Port Imported Wine Trading Base on Dec 29.

They discussed cooperation opportunities while tasting some of the nearly 1,000 types of red wines coming from 200 chateaus across the globe.

Based in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, the trading base has started pouring its wine into the market nationwide, and has been changing the lives of Xi'an residents with its fine wine since it was first set up on June 4 of this year.

Occupying an area of 15,000 square meters, the Xi'an port wine trading base is blessed with a favorable location, due to the proximity of the Comprehensive Bonded Zone, Railway container center and a cross-border shopping center, which has contributed to a blooming industry in the park.

An international freight train from Hamburg, Germany arrived in Xi'an on July 28, carrying red wines from Verona, Italy. The first trial for cold chain logistics service has cut the travel time by two thirds with no additional cost.

Aiming to become the largest imported red wine trading center in the Belt and Road Economic Belts, the base has invited several wine companies from France, Italy, Spain, and Germany to build national taverns and bring more than 1,000 famous red wines into the market.
