Johns Hopkins sets up medical center in Xi'an

Johns Hopkins Medicine International and China Northwest International Medical Center settled down in Xi'an on Dec 4, attracting more than 400 guests from at home and abroad to participate in the launching ceremony.

The medical center, with an investment of 7 billion yuan ($1.02 billion), will take approximately three years to complete, after which it will be a comprehensive medical and academic research institution, and the first international first-class hospital established in China through Joint Commission International (JCI).

The hospital will have the world's most advanced technology-based patented technologies, including heavy ion technology, a da Vinci Surgical System and cardiac hybrid surgery, as well as US CRT technology for the treatment of leukemia.

In addition, the cardiovascular medicine department of the hospital will have the first cardiac hybrid surgery table in Northwest China that can comprehensively treat cardiovascular diseases.

The establishment of the Northwest China International Medical Center project will improve Xi'an's modern medical service level, meet the medical needs of residents in Xi'an and the entire northwest region, and provide world-class quality medical and health service resources.

Founded in 1889, Johns Hopkins Medicine International is a leading academic medical system that combines medicine, scientific research and teaching. According to the U.S.News & World Report, Johns Hopkins Hospital has ranked top in the nation for treating patients of all ages for 23 consecutive years, and has now developed into a global medical authority.
