Xi'an's GDP to exceed 800b yuan in 2018

Xi'an's GDP reached 588.43 billion yuan ($85.85 billion) over the first three quarters of the year, a year-on-year increase of 8.2 percent, the second highest among the country's sub-provincial cities. The annual GDP is expected to exceed 800 billion yuan.

From January to November, the added value of industrial enterprises above a designated size increased by 9.3 percent, a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent.

Xi'an received a total of 242 million visitors from home and abroad, an increase of 38.6 percent, and its total tourism revenue was 241.45 billion yuan, an increase of 57.8 percent.

The combined income of the city's service enterprises above a designated size reached 186.07 billion yuan from January to October, an increase of 18.5 percent, representing an annual record.

As of Dec 11, a total of 751,356 people had moved to Xi'an in 2018, including 30,665 skilled workers, putting the city at the forefront of major Chinese cities in this regard.

Fixed asset investment in the city increased by 8.3 percent year-on-year. Investment in high-tech and equipment manufacturing increased by 86.7 percent and 51.3 percent, respectively.

A total of 677 key projects currently underway received a total investment of 376 billion yuan, and 107 projects were completed and put into use.

As of November, Xi'an had signed a total of 716 investment projects with a total of 2.14 trillion yuan in investment in 2018.

The city introduced a total of 326.6 billion yuan in domestic capital, and utilized 5.05 billion US dollars in foreign capital. The total value of retail sales of consumer goods above a designated value reached 260.36 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.2 percent.

The total value of the city's imports and exports was 302.78 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 31.6 percent, the fastest growth rate among sub-provincial cities.

The city has built 45 new green squares, adding a total of 6.16 million square meters in green space.

In 2019, Xi'an will focus on the construction of 500 key city-level projects and strive to invest a total of 290 billion yuan.

The city also plans to build at least 170 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens, providing study opportunities for at least 100,000 students.
