The freight train will go through Turkey and enter Europe through the Marmara submarine tunnel in Istanbul, eventually arriving in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic. The total journey is about 12,251 kilometers.
It is currently the route between China and Europe with the most complete transportation modes and passing through the highest number of countries.
Mehmet Cahit Turhan, minister of Turkey Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, said that the freight train will allow Turkey to participate more in the Belt and Road construction.
It is believed that it will benefit the countries along the route, and play an important role in promoting regional economic and social development, he added.
Sun Yimin, director of Xi'an International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Park, said that the freight train will enhance the interconnection and trade between the countries along the route, promoting the mutual development of Shaanxi and the countries involved in the Belt and Road.
